Pittsburgh Steelers Free Agency 2026

Pittsburgh entered the offseason with roughly $78M in cap room and a roster that needed reinforcements at cornerback, edge rusher, and along the offensive line. GM Omar Khan targeted proven starters rather than developmental projects, bringing in Haason Reddick on a premium deal and landing Daron Bland to lock down the secondary. The Steelers are banking on a defense-first identity while adding enough offensive pieces to keep the Russell Wilson era competitive for at least one more year.

Key Signings

Player Pos Contract Details
Haason Reddick EDGE 3 yr / $45M Double-digit sack producer who immediately becomes the best pass rusher opposite T.J. Watt. Pittsburgh finally has a legitimate second edge threat after years of searching.
Daron Bland CB 4 yr / $56M The former Cowboys corner led the NFL with 9 interceptions two seasons ago. Gives Pittsburgh an elite ballhawk to pair with Joey Porter Jr. on the outside.
Cam Robinson OT 2 yr / $22M Veteran left tackle who started 14 games in Jacksonville last season. Brings stability and experience to a line that allowed 52 sacks in 2025.
Tyler Allgeier RB 2 yr / $9M Physical between-the-tackles runner who complements Najee Harris. Averaged 4.4 yards per carry in Atlanta and should thrive in Arthur Smith's zone scheme.
Jonnu Smith TE 2 yr / $14M Versatile tight end coming off a career year with the Dolphins. Adds a reliable receiving option over the middle and upgrades the red-zone package.
Calais Campbell DT 1 yr / $6M The 39-year-old future Hall of Famer returns for one more run. Still disruptive as an interior pass rusher and a massive locker room presence.
Nick Westbrook-Ikhine WR 2 yr / $7M Reliable depth receiver who caught 5 touchdowns last season. Fills the WR3 role behind George Pickens and Calvin Austin III.
Jordan Whitehead S 1 yr / $4.5M Hard-hitting strong safety on a prove-it deal. Adds physicality in the box and experience in zone-heavy defensive schemes.

Key Departures

Cornerback

Levi Wallace

Signed with the Titans after three seasons in Pittsburgh. His departure opened the door for the Daron Bland signing and a complete secondary reset.

Running Back

Jaylen Warren

Left for a bigger role in Houston after being stuck behind Najee Harris. Tyler Allgeier was brought in as a direct replacement in the committee approach.

Linebacker

Cole Holcomb

Medically retired after a severe knee injury in 2024. Pittsburgh will look to the draft to find long-term inside linebacker help.

Guard

James Daniels

Released as a cap casualty, saving $10M. Leaves a gap at right guard that remains one of the team's most pressing needs heading into the draft.

Remaining Needs

Critical

Interior Offensive Line

The Steelers addressed left tackle with Cam Robinson but still need help at guard after releasing James Daniels. Expect a day-two draft pick or a veteran addition before camp.

High Priority

Wide Receiver Depth

George Pickens is the clear WR1, but the depth behind him is thin. Nick Westbrook-Ikhine helps, but Pittsburgh could still use a contested-catch specialist or slot upgrade.

Moderate

Safety

Jordan Whitehead provides a stopgap at strong safety, but the long-term picture at the position is unclear. A mid-round draft pick would solidify the back end of the defense.
